STNAs Are Our Backbone
June 30, 2023
What makes an STNA? Empathy, compassion, patience, a giving heart, putting others first, encouraging, caring; the list goes on and on. STNAs are the heart of our nursing homes around the country. They are on the front lines every day, helping others with a smile on their faces.

STNAs have an incredibly physical and emotional job. They need to be strong enough to lift residents to bed but gentle enough not to wake them in the night while repositioning them. They provide comfort not only to their residents but to the residents' family members too. Families need to know that when they aren't able to be there, their loved ones are being cared for, not only physically but emotionally. STNAs empathize and sympathize. They hold hands, give hugs and wipe tears. They are truly angels in disguise and are often overlooked.
We celebrated National STNA Week by thanking our team with breakfast, lunches and an ice cream social. We can't thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication. Thank you to all the STNAs for everything you do!
We want to highlight one of our wonderful STNAs here at Batavia Nursing Care Center, Billie York. She has been an STNA since 1996 and first decided to become an STNA because she was taking care of her mother-in-law and found her passion for caring. Billie loves to help others and shared,
"My heart goes out to my residents. I feel like I make a difference in their lives."
Billie has three sons and a lot of grandchildren. She is a member of the Eagles Club in Georgetown, Ohio, and rides for charity. You most likely will see Billie doing a lot of benefit rides around town.
Thank you, Billie, and all of the STNAs at Batavia for everything you do. Words can't express how important you are in our facility!
