Honoring Our Heroes: Veterans Day at Batavia
November 15, 2024
This Veterans Day, we proudly honored the brave men and women at Batavia Nursinng Care Center who have served our country. It’s a privilege to care for these heroes, and we’re deeply grateful for their sacrifices. Each story reflects courage, dedication, and a commitment to something greater than oneself.
Adam Dishon spent two years in the Navy (1997–1999), stationed in Virginia, working as a mechanic. He delivered supplies worldwide, from Turkey and New Zealand to Ireland and even Antarctica. Joining right after high school, Adam's sense of duty continues through his son, who now serves in the Army.
Ron, one of our dedicated employees, grew up as an "Army brat" and later joined the Navy, serving on submarines (known as "bubble heads"). He dedicated 21 years to medical service with the Fleet Marine Force, participating in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. In 1995, he played a crucial role in a special task force that processed 60,000 Cuban migrants, many of whom found new homes in Miami.
Joe, another valued team member, served in the Army for eight years, starting in 1997. He completed his training in North Carolina and achieved the rank of E-4 Specialist, proudly following in his father's footsteps.
We also celebrate the service of:
