Resident Spotlight: Judy’s Incredible Adventures
February 5, 2025
At Batavia Nursing Care Center, we love getting to know the amazing stories our residents have to share, and Judy is no exception! She has been with us several times for rehabilitation, and every visit brings new and exciting tales from her past. As a former travel agent, Judy has traveled the world, experiencing incredible places and unforgettable moments. We wanted to highlight just a few of her fascinating adventures!
One of her most memorable experiences was in Ireland, where she kissed the famous Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle. According to legend, this grants the "gift of the gab"—the ability to speak eloquently and persuasively. If you’ve ever had a conversation with Judy, you know that charm and storytelling come naturally to her!
Her travels also took her to Egypt, where she rode a camel through the desert and visited the iconic pyramids. While exploring King Tut’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings, she managed to snap a few forbidden photos—a big no-no! But with a clever bribe of ballpoint pens, she was able to keep them as souvenirs. That wasn’t the only time her quick thinking paid off; during her visit to the Palace of King Farouk, a stunning architectural masterpiece overlooking the Nile, she took another prohibited picture—this time securing it with a bribe of American cigarettes!
Judy’s travel stories could fill an entire book, and we love hearing about her adventures, experiences, and the memories she has made along the way. Her incredible journeys remind us all of the beauty of exploring the world and the joy of sharing those experiences with others. We are so grateful to have Judy as part of our community!
