A Love Story for the Ages: Sarah and Charles

Love fills the air at Batavia Nursing Care Center, where the enduring bond between Sarah and Charles "Shortie" Stevens is a testament to true love. Married for an incredible 61 years, Sarah, a cherished resident since 2022, is the heart of their love story. Charles visits her faithfully, rain or shine, often spending sunny days together on our front porch.



Their journey began 75 years ago in Milford, Ohio, culminating in a May 1963 wedding. As they approach their 62nd anniversary, memories of drive-in movies and roller-skating dates still bring smiles to their faces. With four children and a lifetime of shared experiences, their love has only deepened. Sarah's tender care for Charles has now turned full circle, with him caring devotedly for her in return.

Their love shines bright for all to see, rooted in mutual affection and strengthened by shared faith. As they navigate life's journey together, they find joy in spoiling their 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Sarah and Charles remind us that true love, anchored in faith and shared values, is a treasure worth holding onto. We are truly blessed to witness their enduring love story each day at Batavia Nursing Care Center.
